Slate offers a repeat of a McCain anecdote that originally appeared in the New York Times Magazine in a profile by Michael Lewis. It's a pretty good story.

No problem, Gail. I thought it was wonderful, too. I don't know a lot about McCain personally, but I think he sort of has a reputation for being sort of mean and abrupt, so it's nice to see something that profiles a different side of him.
